The Blackmagic BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G supports a wide range of video standards, including both SDI and HDMI formats (PAL, NTSC, SMPTE, DCI), up to 2K resolution and 60fps. The converters include features like 3D LUTs for colour accurate monitoring, as well as support for camera control over SDI/HDMI using an ATEM SDI Switcher. This allows them to be integrated into professional broadcast and production workflows, and can be configured further using a free utility software, with setting options such as converter names, camera control, and 3G-SDI output levels.

Despite their small, portable size, they are designed with high-quality broadcast-grade components and features. This includes SDI re-clocking to support longer cable runs, as well as compliance with industry standards. They can be powered via USB or an optional AC power supply, making them versatile for use in different live broadcast situations, from performances to conference settings.
